Black Tailed Buff Marans
I AM NO LONGER BREEDING BLACK TAIL BUFF MARANS. THE ENTIRE FLOCK WAS SOLD FALL 2016.
This variety is often abbreviated as BTB Marans. My stock came from a breeder in Minnesota last year, 2015. This variety has come from the wheaten variety and is still in the development stage. The genetic code of pure BTB is: EWh/EWh S+/S+ Mh/Mh Di/Di w+/w+ Id/Id Pti1-L/Pti1-L. It is an uncommon color but gaining popularity. The foundation flock is a very nicely colored black tailed buff cock, a black tailed red cock which is too dark to be called buff although he is used to help darken the BTB females, 1 black tailed buff hen, 1 dark wheaten hen which was used in the 2015 BTB breeding program. The chicks hatch a buff or red tinted yellow. The main 2 hens used in the 2015 breeding program have been laying almost nonstop from February. The eggs range in color from 4 - 5 to almost 6 sometimes. The 2016 eggs started light then got darker and now are lightening again.

Saxony Ducks
I AM NO LONGER BREEDING SAXONY DUCKS. THE ENTIRE FLOCK WAS SOLD FALL 2016.
Spring 2016 will be the last year I will be breeding Saxony ducks! These birds have been a great addition to our farm but they have served their purpose in helping me with my blue fawn Rouen project. It is now time for them to move on to a new home in the fall of 2016.
Background:
I got my Saxony ducks in spring 2013 as adults. I started with 4 hens and 1 cock. They are from Holderread's line of Saxony ducks. I added a cockerel from Pete Dempsey spring 2013 too. I crossed the Holderread hens to the Dempsey cockerel in spring 2014. I have reduced my flock of Saxony ducks for fall 2015. I will only keep enough to continue my blue fawn Rouen project until 2016. I will not be offering Saxony hatching eggs in 2016 and I will only have a few ducklings for sale. The flock will be offered for sale late summer 2016.

Dusky Calls Ducks
I AM NO LONGER BREEDING DUSKY CALL DUCKS. THE ENTIRE FLOCK WAS SOLD FALL 2015.
Genetically Dusky Call ducks are the same as grays except for one gene, the dusky gene. The dusky gene is recessive which means if you breed a dusky Call to a gray Call the offspring will yield ducklings that look like gray Calls but will carry one copy of the dusky gene. During breeding season (Feb-July) the dusky Calls were kept separate from the gray Calls in their own raised pen.
