Wheaten Marans

I've been raising my Marans since 2009. The Marans breed is officially recognized by the American Poultry Association.  Currently the Black Copper, Wheaten, and White colors have been admitted to the A.P.A. Standard.
The first cock and hens I bought came from April Miley of OH and she got some of her original birds from Dave Williams of OH and the line is Teasdale.  I also bought a couple chicks from April and a trio of chicks from Dave spring 2010. I acquired 11 chicks from April in spring 2013.  She has added in Charles Logan's line of wheatens to her Teasdale flock and these chicks would be the third generation since that addition.  I kept one pullet from April's chicks that had the type and color I was looking for.  She is very similar to my flock.  In 2016 I purchased 7 chicks from Marans Unlimited, a breeder in Texas.  I've followed this breeder for a few years and found her birds to be similar in type and feather color to my own especially the females.  I grew out all 7 chicks and decided to keep all of them.  I also kept 6 of my own 2016 hatch birds to add to my adult flock.  I look forward to the chicks in 2017!

I routinely show in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan and have received numerous awards with my Marans.  For a list of shows I attend please see the more... tab above.
All pictures are of my very own birds.  Click on each picture to make it larger. A caption will appear under each picture giving a short description.  Any other chickens that you may see with the wheaten Marans are no longer living with them now.
