HATCHING EGGS
Last updated April 2024
Now taking orders for 2024
WE WILL BEGIN TAKING EGG ORDERS FOR 2022
ON MARCH 1ST 2024
I begin taking orders for hatching eggs on March 1st of each year. I stop taking orders for hatching eggs around June 1st each year. Those with inquiries and requests after June 1st please know I will probably be sold out most hatching eggs by June 1st. If I am sold out you will need to contact me on/after March 1st of the next year to be placed on my wait list for hatching eggs. If you know you want hatching eggs but it is after June 1st please feel free to contact me with your questions but also know that it is your responsibility to contact me again on/after March 1st of the next year to be placed on my wait list for eggs.
I fill orders on a first come first served basis so please contact me for weeks of availability during the spring. Eggs will be shipped during the week from Monday-Wednesday. If the order cannot be filled by Wednesday then it will ship the following Monday with the freshest eggs available.
When I have eggs for sale I list ads on www.featherauction.com. I occasionally list auctions on www.ebay.com as well. The prices listed on www.featherauction.com are current and accurate as long as the listing is open/still running. Closed/ended listings on www.featherauction.com may not be accurate. I use the username jndoerfl so you should be able to search my username to find my ads. Make sure the listing is still open though.
If you contact me via e-mail or phone and I quote you a price then that is the accurate price even if the price is different online! Prices are subject to change at any time for any number of reasons.
Eggs picked up from my farm or a show will be priced per egg or per dozen. If you'd like to pick eggs up instead of having them shipped please contact me for those prices.
Order Form - copies available on the Order Form page
Please use the Order Form page to quickly and easily get us the information we need to add you the wait list. You may also email or call us with the information. Inquires about eggs and birds may take longer for us to reply to if an order form is not used or the information we need is not included in your inquiry. We can gladly email or mail you a copy of the form upon request. Thanks!!

Please note for the Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel Call Duck Assortment:
- The eggs will include eggs from my Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel Call pen. Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel Call Assortment can hatch to be any of those three colors but, most will be gray. Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel colors are all APA/ABA accepted colors that can be interbred (like black, blue, and splash chickens). Contact me with questions.
- Hatching Calls is not for beginners because they need careful monitoring and can need help hatching. If you've never hatched Calls I do not recommend buying hatching eggs.
Please note for the Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel Rouen AND Call duck Eggs:
- The ducklings that hatch from the Gray, Blue Fawn, & Pastel Assortment can hatch to be any combination of those three colors. I cannot guarantee how many of each color will hatch. If you are only interested in one color then I recommend you make arrangements to pick up/ship started birds in the fall.
- I do not ship ducklings.
- The 2024 breeding I am offering eggs from will produce 14th generation blue fawn and pastel Rouen ducklings.
- In 2024 we will NOT be offering orders of Gray Rouen eggs only. We do of course offer orders of just Gray Rouen eggs. The Gray Rouen egg order (only gray eggs) will come from my pure Gray Rouens which are kept separate from my blue fawn and pastel breeders.
- Please see my page on the Blue Fawn and Pastel Rouens for more detailed information on my breeding program and how I manage my flocks as well as the genetics behind them.
Eggs will no longer be offered for the following breeds: White Calls, African geese, Dusky Calls & Saxony ducks, Wheaten Marans, and Black Tail Buff Marans. I have sold these flocks or gotten down to just old retired birds.
Gray Rouen eggs will not be offered separately in 2024.
I DO NOT wash the hatching eggs unless specifically requested to do so. If you want your eggs sanitized/washed please let me know and I can accommodate you, otherwise they will not be washed. I use a solution of Oxine with warm water to clean the eggs when asked to clean them.
I DO NOT ship outside the Continental US, to Hawaii, or to Alaska. Be sure you can receive hatching eggs at your location before you buy the eggs. I will not be responsible for egg shipments returned due to your state and local laws. Check with your local post office for specific regulations.
I WILL NOT SHIP OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES IT IS A HUGE UNDERTAKING AND I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR THE RESOURCES TO TAKE ON THAT RESPONSIBILITY, PLEASE DO NOT ASK.
I DO use both pencil and Sharpie markers to date and label my hatching eggs. Some people have been led to believe that markers will harm the egg/embryo. This is simply not true. I have used both markers and pencil for almost 20 years and I've found no difference between them and they do not harm the egg/embryo. Because some people still believe this about markers I want my customers to know I use markers.
SHIPPING:
I charge a flat rate for shipped hatching eggs so all prices below include shipping. Eggs will be shipped during the week from Monday-Wednesday. If the order cannot be filled by Wednesday then it will ship the following Monday with the freshest eggs available.
ONLY USPS Priority Mail postage will be offered for egg shipments. Priority Mail generally takes 2-3 days for delivery but it is not guaranteed and can on occasion take 5+ days especially if you live far from Indiana, live in a very rural area, or the week of shipment is a holiday week.
I cannot guarantee what day eggs will arrive and I will not send replacement eggs due to the eggs getting delayed past the “general” shipment time frame of 2-3 days. The USPS does not guarantee delivery dates for Priority Mail and neither can I. You are welcome to come to the farm and pick eggs up too.
I NO longer offer USPS Express Mail postage for egg shipments. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
***DISCLAIMER: I try very hard to package the eggs so they arrive in excellent condition but I have no control over the postal service. Due to shipping and differences in incubators I cannot guarantee your hatch rate. Shipping stress and improper handling can cause early embryo death causing fertile eggs to fail to develop. After the eggs leave our farm I can't control if the eggs get too hot, too cold, get x-rayed, scrambled from rough handling, etc... Because of this I cannot guarantee how many of your eggs will successfully develop. After a few days of incubation the blastoderm degrades and there is no reliable way to differentiate failed embryos and infertile eggs. Whenever possible I will include "extra" eggs to offset the stress of shipping and incubation problems. Mailing hatching eggs is a risky thing for both seller and buyer please understand this. My eggs are individually wrapped in bubble wrap and packaged with packing peanuts. Ask all questions before ordering eggs!!
