Payments
Last updated March 2022
If you are interested in purchasing eggs or live birds you must contact me before sending payment since prices and availability are constantly changing.
I prefer you pay cash if you are picking up birds or eggs from my farm or a show.
I prefer checks and/or money orders for deposits.
For shipped eggs and birds I accept PayPal payments, checks, and money orders.
- EGG ORDERS ONLY: For PayPal payments, please e-mail me with your e-mail address then I can send you an invoice. There are no additional fees associated with egg orders paid for using PayPal.
- BIRD ORDERS ONLY: For PayPal payments, there will be a 4% service fee to cover what PayPal charges me to receive payments. For example if you owe $100 that means you’ll need to actually send $104 through PayPal (100 x 4% = $104)) You are always welcome to send a check or money order.
Deposits:
I require a deposit to hold started birds for you and save your place on my wait list. I start accepting deposits in August each year for young started bird orders.
I do not require a deposit for eggs or baby poultry at this time. Instead egg and baby poultry orders require payment in full. I will notify you when payment in full is expected.
For young started birds, after I confirm your order in the late summer or early fall I will send you an invoice with a due date for your deposit. Deposits are due by the date on your invoice unless other arrangements have been made with me. If you are contacting me to be placed on my wait list after the end of August I will let you know when I need full payment or a deposit to hold birds back for you.
Deposits are NONREFUNDABLE and are applied toward the total cost of the bird(s), shipping box, and postage if applicable. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate extenuating circumstances but again deposits are NONREFUNDABLE.
You have to contact me BEFORE you send a deposit so I know to look for it and so I can let you know when I receive the deposit. Please let me know how you plan on paying (check, money order, PayPal). I prefer money orders or personal checks for the deposit especially with birds that will be picked up from my farm or a show. I also accept PayPal payments but there will be a 3% service fee to cover what PayPal charges me to receive payments. For example if you owe $100 that means you’ll need to actually send $103 through PayPal (100 x 3% = $103). When you pick birds up from my farm or a show you’ll need to pay cash for the remainder you owe unless previous arrangements have been made to accept a check or money order. Make payments out to Jean Doerflein and mail to:

- For birds that will be picked up from a show or my farm the deposit is half the cost of the bird(s).
- For birds that will be shipped the deposit is half the cost of the bird(s) plus the full cost of the shipping box.
