Pets and other farm critters
We don't only have poultry on the farm...
Molly, Mia, Grace, Max, Samson, Iris, and Guss are all Great Pyrenees, Butters is a Pomeranian Poodle cross, and Finnegan is our Corgi. Our Great Pyrenees are our working livestock guardian dogs. They mostly live with the goats, ducks, geese, and some chickens and guineas. They are the best dogs ever!! I would highly recommend a Great Pyrenees to anyone wanting a livestock guardian. Butters is a house dog and a sweetie after she stops barking :) We sadly lost our Zeus boy to old age. Finnegan is our newest house dog and overall farm dog.
We also have 4 inside cats Jigsaw, June-bug, Louis, and Player. Then I have several outside/barn cats. Most of my outside barn cats came to the farm as strays and we've adopted them. We spay and neuter all the cats that call the farm home. The outside cats really help a lot with the small rodent problems that plague most farms with a lot of animal feed being kept. They also hunt the song birds that eat a lot of the poultry feed too. We give them cat food too of course.
I also have two registered Nigerian Dwarf doe goats Velma and Lilly. The goats keep the brush, saplings, and grass ate down in the barn lot. They also steal chicken and duck food when they can.
Sadly, Gobbles my wild tom turkey disappeared in an ice storm winter 2013. Gobbles was dropped off at my house when he was just a few days old. I raised him until he was about 4 months old then released him into the woods. He came back the next day and had lived at my house until he disappeared in 2013.
That's all the pets and critters I have for now but I'm sure there will be more to come.
